Financial Planning Through the Ages: New York Times and American Public Media

Last week, the New York Times published a special section in the “Your Money” portion of the newspaper. In conjunction with Marketplace Money (which can be heard on the weekends here in the Triangle on 91.5 WUNC-FM), the paper profiled 10 stories of individuals and couples who are at various life stages and dealing with the accompanying financial challenges. The Times matched the people in each story with a financial adviser who was about the same age to offer some guidance and suggestions.

While each story was original, you’ve probably heard some variation of each one before. You might have even been able to tell the same story: the profile of the young couple (both with PhD’s from UNC-Chapel Hill, by the way) with a newborn certainly resonated with me! When you read through the profiles, do you see your own story?
