Like just about everyone else, we continue to watch the situation in Japan following the devestating earthquake and tsunami that struck late last week.
In times of crisis, particularly after natural disasters, many are driven to make some sort of financial contribution to rescue, cleanup and recovery efforts. Unfortunately, there are also many that are driven to capitalize on this basic human urge to help in the form of fraud, misrepresentation, and outright theft.
For that reason, we wanted to post this link to Charity Navigator, a website dedicated to ranking the efforts of charitable organization and educating the public about smart charitable giving. This link in particular provides tips and guidelines to consider when you make a contribution, as well as listing some organizations currently performing charitable work in Japan.
